I was able to visit the Beijing Olympic Village and sport venues on my day off. It took about 2 hours by bus. Even with dedicated Olympic vehicle lanes our bus got caught mid-morning congestion.
The B22 WOG Village is close to the B08 SOG Village. Driving past the Water Cube Building (converted for curling) and the Bird's Nest Stadium brought back fond memories of when I was here for the B08 SOG's. Unfortunately, due to COVID, walking outside of the B22 WOG Village and closed loop was not permitted
The BVL felt less "wintery" compared to the Yanqing Village as it is situated within the city in newly build high-rise condo complex.
I was able to visit the LTSS Oval - such a nice building! Mark Jesney is one of the long track speed skating PTs
In case you have not seen, this was Coach Remmelt Eldering's happy dance after the Canadian women won the team pursuit gold medal.
I also watched the women's 1500 m relay and men's 5000 m relay STSS finals - congrats to Charles Hamelin, Pascal Dion, Jordan Pierre-Gilles and Steven Dubois on for their gold medal performance!
My visit concluded with watching the Sweden vs Canada hockey game. 2-0 loss - boo hoo!
