It's been two weeks since getting back from the B22WOGs. Not too much jet lag. The Chinese phrase for goodbye is "zàijiàn" and can be translated literally as "again meet". So although it was sad to leave Beijing, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to return again. Although COVID created some challenges, but it was still amazing to experience to Olympics first-hand again.
The Beijng Airport was pretty busy with many teams leaving at the same time.
The things I have missed since coming back:
Daily dose of dim-sum, roast duck wraps, hot-pot, fresh steamed buns and delicious stir-frys. I've never seen square dim sum steamers before!
2. The People
All the Games volunteers, cleaners, and dining hall staff were amazingly friendly and "peaceful". Hand-held translators and my iPhone Google Translate came in handy when communication was challenged. I made new friends with the COC staff and even got a haircut!
3. Yanqing Village and Sliding Centre
I am missing my 10,000+ steps around the Village and up and down the Sliding Centre Track.
4. Pin trading
My final tally of pins was 22 countries, including 4 different ones from China. The Dutch team traded mini clogs and I finally got the Jamaican bobsleigh pin on the very last day!
