I was fortunate to be on the HST for both the B2008 SOG and B2022 WOG. Pretty hard to compare which is better as they each have their own unique vibe! I don't have much of my B2008 outfitting left, but some might remember the crazy closing ceremonies pants!
Although the Olympic Games do have their share of controversy, I think at their core, they are still a unique opportunity to promote and celebrate the human experience in a peaceful and inclusive way. Even though countries compete ferociously to be the best, athletes celebrate each other's victories and encourage one another in loss.
Interestingly, although the the motto of the International Olympic Committee is “Citius, Altius, Fortius” (Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger), one of the founders of the Olympics, Pierre de Courbetin, also introduced the motto: "The most important thing is not to win but to take part!"
I Ivanie Blondin dropped by the clinic to show me her two Olympic medals - congrats Ivanie!
This will probably be my final post for this blog. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed this blog and I look forward to sharing my experiences again if I go to another Olympic Games!
Don't forget to follow the Paralympic Winter Games (March 4 to 13, 2022) and the next SOG in Paris (2024) and WOG in Milano Cortina (2026)!
