The mascot for the B22WOG is a panda named Bing Dwen Dwen. Bing literally translates to "Ice" and Dwen Dwen translates to "robust" and "lively". The mascot for the B22 Paralympic Games is a red lantern named Shuey Rhon Rhon, Shuey is the same pronunciation as snow and the first Rhon means ‘to include, to tolerate’ and the second Rhon means ‘to melt, to fuse’ and ‘warm.’
Bing Dwen Dwen souvenirs are selling out quickly all over China including in the Olympic Village Souvenir shop, where there is a limit of one per person. This stuffy sell for about $CAN 40.
Kerry Worbets (physiotherapist for the Canadian Luge Team) and I had a fortunate in-panda meeting with Bing Dwen Dwen when he (or is it she?) came visit to the Yanqing Sliding Centre.
