Yanqing Cat Tale

When the Canadian Bobsleigh and Skeleton team came to the Yanqing Sliding Centre for a test event in October 2021, the team's sport coordinator, Esther, befriended the local Chinese track staff and an unexpectedly, an abandoned baby cat, who she named "Ming Ming". Ming Ming was about 2 months old and was being cared for be some of the track staff.

Following the test event, Esther continued communicating with the track staff to follow up on Ming Ming. Ming Ming continued to thrive and is now an energetic and curious 6 month=old cat. Since there are no sliding sports in the Paralympic Games, the staff will be leaving the Sliding Centre but are unable to take Ming Ming with them. They have asked Esther to consider adopting Ming Ming and bringing her back to Canada! Team Canada has rallied behind the effort to bring Ming Ming to Canada - not sure what will happen but stay tuned for more developments.
